Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi so called IIIT-Delhi or IIIT-D was founded as a State University by an act of Delhi Government empowering it to do research and development and grant degrees. IIIT-Delhi was officially established on 10th June, 2008 as per this notification in the Delhi Gazette.

The institute began its first batch of BTech in 2008. First batch of MTech and two batches of PhD started in year of 2008. AICTE has recognized us as an Institute of National Importance, along with other IIITs.
